Acquiring drawings from Alfresco
What do you like best about the product?
It makes it easy to share drawings in one place for all the different facilities around the world
What do you dislike about the product?
It has 3 boxes for searching, it would be better has two since the first and third box are identical except you check the first one to get the newest and you use their KCID to search. The first and third box could easily be combined.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to load drawings so that everyone has access to them. For my group it allows to access drawings so we can load BOMs
It is a digital business platform with a flexible implementation.
What do you like best about the product?
it can include angular material design in the framework of application development which provides a great look and feel in the application, this allows to design user interfaces and an excellent and modern UI / UX for users, Overall the product is good, once you get some expertise around it. It isn't as mature as other products in its category, but does the basic things well and alows for expanded capabilities with some build.
What do you dislike about the product?
To implement correctly, it is necessary to choose the right provider who is an alfresco expert. It also requires a lot of hardware resources, which requires a large capacity server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
in the ECM solution we have been able to have excellent business management when sharing digital content, even outside the limits of the company in real time we have been able to collaborate and perform much more when preparing and sharing digital documents. Bring in Activiti/Alfresco experts to help train the workforce. Know your use cases prior to briging in a tool. If the use cases are rather simple, standard re-usable workflows are to be created. Don't create a unique case for each one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
very important at the time of hiring this service is to review in the Alfresco White Paper here is exposed how to choose the most suitable provider for the implementation of this system. This is very important because the implementation of this system is the key to get a good performance of this service, also to be done in java also gives place to customize and develop new functions, which is very good since it can be adapt to any type of business business
Enterprise-level software: Great for managing company documents
What do you like best about the product?
Alfresco organizes your documents in a systematic way. It also allows you to keep track of all documents' versions and know the movement of documents. As long as you have internet access, you can access documents saved in your Alfresco system. You can also collaborate on them remotely. Since its also based on Open Source, you can easily integrate Alfresco with other systems and extend its capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface could be more user friendly. They've already revamped it some months or almost a year back, but the interface can still feel a bit intimidating. Perhaps they could also improve the collaboration functionalities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to store our documents that allowed us to access it from anywhere since we had operations across the country and internationally. We needed to be able to see and recover past versions if needed. While it lacks the easy collaborative tools that other content management systems have, we still use Alfresco as our final document storage system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are plenty of enterprise content management systems out there, but if you want to take advantage brought through using Open Source technology, then Alfresco is for you. Since Alfresco is designed with enterprise processes in mind, expect that its capabilities will also be for enterprise level. Its a very big step up from Google Drive 's content management capabilities so you should adopt Alfresco with the knowledge that it may change your document management processes if that's where you're moving from.
Alfresco works but could be more intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
I personally like how "sites" are setup not to be just a document repository but in my case as a project dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not intuitive, showing a new person around is a challenge. It is also buggy in some ways like with rolling log files that build up on the HD. In one instance I have to manually remove them or the server locks up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly document respository. Although as mentioned about we use it for a project dashboard.

Could be better
What do you like best about the product?
I like the concept of everyone being in one cookie jar to work at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that only one document can be picked at once, and the more users in the biggest cookie jar makes it slow to load. I don't think that if someone takes your document, there's no way to take it back until they kick it out of their queue:
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The university went from using paper files to being digital. This helped initially with record keeping but because not every dept was in this software cookie car, it ultimately didn't pan out for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get the kinks out first.
Collaborative Sharing
What do you like best about the product?
Easy access and communication to needed material.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes excessive notifications, but I believe this is part of the project not Alfresco.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Due to the confidential nature of the related projects, this tool has been useful sharing needed information only to the team involved. Allowing for segregation from non participants.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Collaborative and secure project data sharing. Good communications tool.
